28 / 05 / 2019

A key event of the supporting program of the Metalloobrabotka 2019 international exhibition held at Expocentre Fairgrounds was the 9th International Forum on Materials Processing Technology, Robotics and Industry 4.0 opened on May, 28.

The Forum started with a plenary meeting on Development of the Russian Industry's Potential. Contribution of the Russian Machine Tool Building to Implementation of National Projects. The moderator was Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Military and Industrial Commission of the Russian Government Oleg Bochkarev.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship Denis Kravchenko told about the development of the Russian machine tool industry. According to him, the technological gap in machine tool building of Russia has narrowed over the past ten years. Russian manufacturers and think tanks started mastering science-based component nodes, expanding capacities and capital. A key trend in machine tool building is slow but sure strengthening of Russian manufacturers of components. The industry shows an upward trend but import dependence is still very great, said the deputy.

In 2014, he said, the share of imports in Russia's machine building park reached 87%. Three years later the share was reduced to 70% through the creation of productive assets.

The picture was completed by Director of the Department for Machine Tool Building and Investment Machine Building of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Mikhail Ivanov. In 2018, the increase in production of cutting machines in Russia amounted to about 5% or 15 billion rubles, and production of tools to15% or 18 billion rubles accordingly. Moreover, the government support of the industry reached almost one billion rubles. He also reminded of the challenging task: to increase exports of Russian-made machine building from 33 to 63 billion US dollars by 2024.

The meeting participants discussed the government incentives and effectiveness of measures of government support of Russian machine tool builders, their role in implementation of national projects and in transition of machine building to digital manufacturing and creation of technology for development of export potential of the industry and other relevant issues.
