This year\'s edition was special not only because the venue was changed, as the show moved to Crocus Expo, but also because of a large-scale conceptual expansion. Metalloobrabotka became the main showcase of achievements in the field of technological sovereignty and industrial cooperation. It once again confirmed the status of this country\'s key industrial platform.

Thanks to the integration of Rusweld and Technoforum as thematic clusters, Metalloobrabotka 2026 covered the entire production cycle from material design and welding to the release of final products.

For the first time in a long time, Metalloobrabotka offered its own daily printed newspaper, which covered the main events of the show and was distributed among exhibitors and visitors during the exhibition days.

Show highlights

The equipment�from heavy metal cutting machines to robotic complexes, CNC systems, AI solutions, and digital twins�was demonstrated in operation. Automation and integration of various production processes were especially popular.

As usual, Metalloobrabotka featured the stands of leading Russian universities such as Stankin Moscow State University of Technology, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, MISIS National University of Science and Technology, St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University, MIREA � Russian Technological University, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, etc.

New in 2026

The notable new products included the first serial products of the Kupol-PRO full-cycle enterprise, created by the Kupol electromechanical plant (Izhevsk): lathes and vertical machining centers with their own CNC system that use Russian components.
Zyfra Group demonstrated advanced solutions where AI acts as the operator\'s digital assistant, promptly analyzing production data and helping to prevent failures.
There was a presentation of RTK Areatek 4105, the first fully Russian-made robotic complex for automated 3D quality control of parts.
Ulyanovsk Machine Tools demonstrated a robotic cell based on two machining centers with various Russian CNC systems, as well as a DMC 1035 milling machine, officially included in the register of domestic industrial products of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
It was the first time that the Obukhovsky Plant showed an automated winding machine in full size and demonstrated a bed element created using mineral casting technology, which significantly reduces material consumption.
Gazpromneft Lubricants has introduced an updated innovative line of coolants and spindle oils, which are critical for heat dissipation and corrosion protection of high-precision machines.
A great premiere of the Belarus national pavilion was the improved Soyuz Loom from StankoGomel. The knee-type milling system now consists of 100% Belarusian and Russian-made components.
For the first time at Metalloobrabotka, AVEA presented an industrial robotics complex designed for automation of 3-axis, 3+1, 3+2 and 5-axis CNC machines of various layouts. The solution provides fully automated operation of the production cell, including changing pallets, tooling and tool assemblies, as well as targeted storage of tooling inside the complex.

Conference programme

The conference programme of Metalloobrabotka 2026 included 49 events and brought together about 280 speakers and moderators. The focus was on practical tasks of industry, issues of technological leadership, automation, HR, and cooperation development.

Its key event was the Plenary Meeting on the Priorities of the Industrial Policy and Technological Leadership Tools: Implementation of the National Project on the Means of Production and Automation, which hosted the official opening ceremony of the show. Other events included different strategic sessions, conferences on additive technologies, industrial robotics events, a panel on personnel training, and the Russian Subcontracting and Engineering Exchange.

The Russian Subcontracting and Engineering Exchange was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Yaroslavl Oblast, and the National Partnership for Subcontracting Development with the support of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. More than 70 representatives from 34 regions of Russia and Belarus took part in the event. More than 250 negotiations were held between customers and performers.

A series of the Efficient Manufacturing 4.0 events organized by Zyfra Group attracted special attention of the participants. It was dedicated to the practical effects of digitalization, the application of AI in smart factories, partnership of humans and robots, as well as the use of industrial data and digital twins. The issues of robotics development, modernization of the machine-tool fleet, and improvement of production efficiency have become one of the most discussed topics on the business agenda.

The National Agency of Welding Control joined forces with EXPOCENTRE to organise the Conference on Welding as a Basis for Russia\'s Technological Sovereignty and Leadership. The event brought together government representatives, industry experts, manufacturers, the scientific and educational community from Russia and the CIS countries. The conference participants discussed the key role of welding production in the development of industry and strengthening the technological independence of the country. The issues of regulation of welding operations at hazardous production facilities, standardization, as well as training, and providing the industry with qualified personnel were in the focus of attention.

The Association of Additive Technologies Development and its partners held three sessions.

The experts participating in the Session on Additive Manufacturing and Automation as a Factor of Labour Productivity Growth discussed the impact of additive manufacturing on labour productivity and increasing the efficiency of enterprises, and presented options for reducing its cost.

The participants in the Session Innovative Technologies and Advanced Materials for 3D Printing discussed new heat-resistant alloys and the role of metrology.

The Session on Professional Personnel Training touched upon an important topic for the entire industry about new specialists and competencies of future engineers.

The conference programme concluded with a student competition for promising projects in additive technologies called The Future of the Industry: a Competition for Young Researchers. Students and young researchers from Russia�s leading universities (Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Ural Federal University, Samara University, MISIS National University of Science and Technology, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, MIREA � Russian Technological University, and St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University) presented their developments and research in the field of 3D printing, additive manufacturing, and new materials.

More than 50 exhibitors took part in the Metalloobrabotka Gravity 2026 Competition. Its participants invited visitors to their stand, and the results were summed up by the number of tickets issued using their unique UTM tags. This competition helps to attract professional visitors, increase audience reach, and more accurately build work with potential clients and partners.

Strategic agreements

Metalloobrabotka 2026 became the venue for signing a number of important strategic agreements. For example, Rosatom\'s industry integrator Atomintelmash and SEZ Dubna agreed to create a powerful cluster in the Moscow region for the design and mass production of industrial robots for strategic industries. The Severstal IT cluster and LE Robotics signed a memorandum of strategic partnership to develop next-generation robotic solutions using AI welding and 3D vision technologies.

Bauman Moscow State Technical University and Mechatronica signed an agreement on the joint development of intelligent algorithms for CNC systems. The new algorithms will allow the machines to self-tune, which will greatly reduce vibrations, increase service life of bearings, and improve the quality of finish of parts.

Conclusion

The change of venue allowed the show to be more clearly structured thematically. The expansion of the display and the inclusion of Rusweld and Technoforum thematic clusters made Metalloobrabotka even more ambitious and meaningful. The show brought together a full range of solutions from machine tools and instruments to robotics, additive manufacturing, and engineering software.

Metalloobrabotka 2026 clearly demonstrated the fact that the Russian industry is confidently moving towards digitalization, automation, and localization of technologies.

The show once again confirmed that it remains the main meeting place for manufacturers, customers, engineers, and experts, and a platform for creating new cooperation ties and determining the vectors of industry development.

The Strategic Session on the Russian Metallurgical Industry: Priorities, Personnel, Laws was one of the key events of the�Metalloobrabotka�conference programme in 2026. It was organised by the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education and EXPOCENTRE AO.

The discussion was moderated by�Oleg Dyachenko, Executive Director at VOIR � the Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers. During the session, experts talked about the transformation of engineering education, training of highly qualified personnel, and mechanisms of interaction between industrial enterprises and higher education.

Sergey Selivanov, Deputy Director General at EXPOCENTRE, welcomed the event participants. He noted that it is possible to develop effective solutions to ensure the technological sovereignty of the country by bringing together the efforts of the legislative authorities, relevant ministries, and leading universities at the exhibition platform.

“Metallobrabotka provides a unique opportunity for students to get acquainted with the latest technologies and equipment that they will have to work with tomorrow,” said Sergey Selivanov. He emphasized the scale of the show, which grew to 82,000 square meters and brought together more than 1,200 companies in 2026.

Subcontract and Engineering Exchange

The Subcontracts and Engineering Exchange has opened within�Metalloobrabotka 2026. It is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO, the Yaroslavl Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the National Subcontracting Development Partnership, with the support of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Subcontract and Engineering Exchange is direct pre-prepared customer�contractor negotiations on the manufacture and supply of parts and assemblies, and the provision of engineering and reengineering services according to the customer\'s terms of reference.

Alexander Fedorov, Vice President at the Yaroslavl Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has said in his opening speech that today more than 70 representatives from 34 regions of Russia and the Republic of Belarus are taking part in the exchange. More than 250 negotiations are going to be held between customers and contractors.

Maxim Fateev, General Director at EXPOCENTRE, thanked the Yaroslavl Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which organised the subcontract exchange within Metalloobrabotka 2026. This year, the show covers more than 80 thousand square meters, and welcomes more than 1,200 exhibitors from 8 countries. More than 700 participants are Russian. Metalloobrabotka is of practical importance as 65% of the exhibitors stated that they sign contracts after the end or right during the show.

Dmitry Kurochkin, Adviser to the President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in his speech focused on the role of the Chamber�s system in supporting small and medium-sized businesses. He noted that eleven Russian regional group stands are arranged at the show to demonstrate high-tech equipment that was previously supplied from abroad but now is successfully launched by local companies. According to him, the Exchange is the tip of the iceberg of a major year-round subcontract development effort.

The Exchange was attended by interested enterprises that are able to fulfill the submitted orders. Contractors signed contracts for various types of work as a result of negotiations with customers.

Priorities of industrial policy discussed at plenary session

The Plenary Meeting on the Priorities of the Industrial Policy and Technological Leadership Tools: Implementation of the National Project on the Means of Production and Automation has opened the conference programme of�Metalloobrabotka 2026. The event is organised by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Centre of Basic Industries Development, and EXPOCENTRE AO.� �

This event is dedicated to discussing the goals, objectives and mechanisms for the implementation of a national project aimed at ensuring Russia\'s technological independence in the field of high-tech machine tool production and increasing the level of industrial robotics.

The Means of Production and Automation national project was launched in 2025. Its main goal is to ensure Russia\'s technological leadership in the production of high-tech machine tools and to increase the level of industrial robotics. Among the key objectives is to achieve 95% technological independence in the manufacture of production equipment by 2030 and become one of the top 25 countries in terms of robotics density.

The project implements various support measures, including subsidies for R&D, compensation of discounts to manufacturers, preferential loans, grants, and other tools.

The meeting was moderated by�Sergey Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In his opening remarks, he spoke about the importance of Metalloobrabotka 2026 for evaluating the first results of the implementation of the national project on the ground with the participation of representatives of government, business, and the scientific community.

Speaking on behalf of the ministry, Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, announced the key performance indicators of the industry.

“In the current environment, ensuring the technological sovereignty of the country is of paramount importance, and therefore the development of the machine tool industry is becoming one of the key tasks,” said Mikhail Ivanov. “By the end of last year, the share of domestic products in the Russian market increased to 34%. We are implementing a wide range of government support measures to develop our industry. Until 2028, over 45 billion rubles have been budgeted for the development of the machine tool industry.”

Maxim Fateev, General Director at EXPOCENTRE AO, presented great statistics of the 2026 edition of Metalloobrabotka in his welcoming speech.

“We have done everything possible to ensure that moving to a new venue does not affect the quality, and judging by the feedback from our exhibitors, this event is a success,” said Maxim Fateev. “1,200 companies, more than 700 Russian participants, 80 thousand square meters of space are occupied by Metalloobrabotka today. The conference programme includes 44 events. I would like to wish you all new contracts, production relations, and implementation of the national project!”

Vladimir Gutenev, Chair of the Russian State Duma Committee for Industry and Trade, emphasized the need to increase production.

“We were able to increase the amount of financing for the industry. This year we allocated about 25 billion rubles, and by 2028 this amount will grow to 35 billion rubles. The money is significant, and it is very important that it be used effectively,” said Vladimir Gutenev.

Mikhail Gordin, Rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, stressed the importance of practical training and the close relationship between science and production.

“The combination of an academic base and practical training directly on the ground provides an opportunity for the seamless introduction of new technologies into production,” said the rector. “Today, effective applied research programmes have been launched as part of the national project, where universities and scientific institutes receive good funding for fundamental research. We are seeing a qualitative shift. Previously, only 10-15% of graduates of relevant departments went to the industry, but today this figure has reached 50%. This is direct evidence that the domestic machine tool industry is becoming a competitive and attractive employer for young talents.”

Boris Padalkin, Rector at STANKIN Moscow State University of Technology, focused on the transformation of educational programmes and human resources.

“The digital revolution requires fundamentally new competencies from designers and technologists, so we are completely reviewing educational programs,” said Boris Padalkin. “It is impossible to teach the way it was done 10-15 years ago. It is extremely important that special attention is paid to the Personnel federal project, which is part of the national project. It allows not only to train new engineers, but also to implement additional professional education programmes for those who are already working in the industry, increasing their productivity. We call on the industry to cooperate even more closely. Universities and the real sector can achieve great results only through deep integration.”

Metalloobrabotka 2026 is open

The 26th�edition of the International Exhibition for Equipment, Instruments and Tools for the Metalworking Industry ��Metalloobrabotka 2026�� has opened at Crocus Expo, Moscow. The event is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO with the official support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and with participation of professional associations.

The show occupies over 75,000 sq m to accommodate equipment and machinery in operation: from heavy metal cutting machines to robotic complexes and AI production control systems.

Metalloobrabotka 2026 welcomes more than 1,200 companies from 8 countries (Russia, Belarus, China, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, South Korea, and Turkiye). It is the first time that Kazakhstan takes part in the show. Belarus, Russia (supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade), Turkiye arrange national pavilions.

Group stands and pavilions of Russian regions have a special place. This year, eleven regions present their developments and production capabilities.

Metalloobrabotka 2026 pays special attention to science and education. As usual, the show features the stands of leading Russian universities such as Stankin Moscow State University of Technology, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University, MISIS National University of Science and Technology, MIREA � Russian Technological University, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, etc.

This year, Rusweld and Technoforum are integrated into Metalloobrabotka. The Rusweld cluster will present welding technologies and equipment, while Technoforum will present additive manufacturing, foundry equipment, heat treatment, metal structures, storage systems, industrial logistics, ecology and design, as well as tooling, components, and coolants and lubricants. Thanks to this integration, Metalloobrabotka becomes a large-scale industrial platform covering the entire production cycle from design of materials to final products.

The conference programme focuses on practical application issues and strategic development. More than 40 events are planned, ranging from plenary sessions and strategic sessions to case study workshops. About 280 speakers and moderators are expected to take part in the events.

Russian manufacturers present robotic CNC machining centers, ultra-precision machine tools, efficient abrasive tools

Year after year, Metaloobrabotka showcases a growing presence from Russian manufacturers. Sanctions have provided an additional boost for the development of machine-tool and tool-making enterprises. The development of the industry is facilitated by active government support. The key directions are technological development, localization of critically important components, and modernization and retrofit of production facilities.

In this review, representatives of Stan-Samara, Engels Powertools, Belgorodskiy Abrazivny Zavod, and Ulyanovsk Machine Tools speak about their success and achievements.

New opportunities for technological sovereignty: Ulyanovsk Machine Tools to unveil a robotic cell with two CNC machining centers and an industrial robot

As one of Russia\'s leading manufacturers of CNC turning and milling centers, Ulyanovsk Machine Tools, is currently fulfilling the strategic mission of ensuring the nation\'s technological sovereignty.

At this year\'s show, the company will showcase a robotic cell for the first time, based on two machining centers � a turning center and a milling center � equipped with different Russian CNC systems, along with an industrial robot.

Ulyanovsk Machine Tools was established in 2015 as part of a German-Japanese concern. In 2022, following the foreign investor\'s withdrawal from the country, the plant ceased operations. In February 2024, by decree of Russian President, Vladimir Putin, the plant was placed under state control, and by September of that same year, the company had resumed production. In February 2026, the plant\'s first machine was entered into the register of domestically manufactured products.

Today, Ulyanovsk Machine Tools is a leading Russian manufacturer of CNC turning and milling machines and machining centers, offering high precision, rigidity, reliability, and operational efficiency. The company leverages a unique technological foundation � it is one of the most advanced plants in the world � and applies only the highest quality components. Following the transfer of the plant to the management of Rosimushchestvo (Federal Agency for State Property Management), the company not only maintained all the existing quality standards but also tightened them further on.

On February 24, 2026, the CNC milling machining center, DMC 1035 model, was included in the register of Russian industrial products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The product was assigned registration number 10790314.

“Granting Russian-made status to our products opens new opportunities for our customers, who receive equipment with a verified level of localization,” said Roman Bukarev, General Director. “A tremendous amount of work has gone into this. We developed our in-house engineering and process documentation, fully integrated a Russian CNC system into the machine design, replaced imported components with Russian-made equivalents, and established in-house machining of all structural parts. Our primary objective is to provide Russian manufacturers with high-quality, advanced equipment, thereby contributing to import substitution and the achievement of the technological sovereignty, not only in machine tool manufacturing but in all key industries of Russian industry.”

The DMC 1035 machine can operate at high speeds without interruption and produce parts with micron-level precision: accurate to within a few microns.

The company is now in the process of certifying a second machine � the �� 510 � as domestically produced. “This machine has a higher level of localization. Moreover, we possess a very strong technological foundation for machining: we are taking on the machining of certain components ourselves, such as pulleys for the belt drive to the spindle, spindle shaft machining, and others. This requires thorough work from our design and engineering departments,” emphasized the general director.

The plant is actively adopting domestic CNC systems for its machines and is working on robotization and automation projects for its equipment. The results of this work will be on display at Metalloobrabotka 2026.

Roman Bukarev also highlighted the importance of participating in Metalloobrabotka, “This is a landmark event for the machine tool industry. After several years of being idle, the plant is back in operation, gaining momentum, and we are ready to show our capabilities at the exhibition. At our stand, we will present a robotic cell based on the two new Russian machines � a turning center and a milling center � featuring Russian CNC systems and an industrial robot. High-Precision Solutions from Stan-Samara: a new level of precision machining at Metalloobrabotka 2026

The Stan-Samara plant of coordinate boring machines specializes in the production of high-precision equipment. The company regularly presents vertical coordinate boring and coordinate grinding machines, as well as a wide range of spindle drives and electric spindles, at Metalloobrabotka.

The plant focuses on the production of add-on rotary dividing tables of exceptionally high precision. These tables are manufactured in various sizes. No other company in this country except Stan-Samara produces this critically important machine component. All products manufactured by the plant are included in the Register of Russian Industrial Products in accordance with Decree No. 719 of the Government of the Russian Federation of July 17, 2015.

The company\'s stand at this year\'s Metalloobrabotka will undoubtedly become a focal point for industry professionals, as several new products will be presented there:

- The �� 400 extra-precision coordinate boring machine provides productive high-precision machining of medium-sized parts and effectively solves precision challenges in single-piece and serial production, as well as in the manufacture of control and measuring instruments and reference samples, and in performing precision measurements.

The change of the venue made it possible to structure the display more clearly by product sectors, and greatly improve the accessibility of the show to visitors by car as underground and above-ground free parking is located on the territory of the venue. Thanks to the integration with Rusweld and Technoforum as thematic clusters, Metalloobrabotka becomes a large-scale industrial platform covering the entire production cycle from design of materials to final products.

The tools market closely follows the general trends of the equipment market. According to the Rhythm of Mechanical Engineering publication in 2022, the volume of tool product consumption in Russia has more than doubled, from 24.8 billion rubles to 52.2 billion rubles. Promet NPO is actively increasing production, expanding capacity

The largest Russian manufacturer and distributor of safes, metal office, medical, and industrial furniture and equipment, Promet, has been successfully operating in the metalworking market for 35 years. It presents its products at the main industry platform almost every year. This year is no exception. The company has prepared several new products: metalworking and additive equipment, as well as industrial furniture.

Promet is known in the market, primarily as a manufacturer of safes of all protection grades (up to Grade 5 burglary resistance), as well as safe locks, metal furniture, medical furniture, shelving systems, doors, and plate bending machines. Today\'s product line includes more than 5,500 items.

The highlight of this year\'s display will be the Russian-language CNC electromechanical plate bending machines by the V-BEND brands: models 30-100, 20-60, and 12-44. The visitors will see the machines with an updated design and will also be able to evaluate the design improvements made to the flagship model 30-100: increased metal mass, as well as the incorporation of more reliable and advanced components not previously used in this product line.

The V-BEND design takes all the operational requirements into account:

a fully welded, milled bed guarantees high rigidity and stability of the machine,
a deflection compensation system equipped with servo drives and ball screws ensures precise movement of the crossbeam and the carriage with stops,
the Russian-language CNC system is an in-house development of Promet. The interface includes 2D visualization of the bend, making machine control user-friendly even for novice operators.

Industrial furniture will also be presented, including workbenches, tool cabinets, and a new addition to the product line�the Profi ESD anti-static table, designed for working with electronic components.

V-BEND machines are manufactured at a state-of-the-art facility in Tula region, where advanced quality control methods are applied at every stage, from laser cutting and welding to heat treatment and final assembly. A standout feature is the 3D scanning of machine components after each stage. This allows for the detection and correction of potential deviations before final assembly, ensuring the accuracy and stability of the equipment.

Currently, Promet manufactures machines with a force of up to 100 tons and a bending length of up to 3 meters. Among the new offerings is the V-PRINT industrial metal 3D printer, which expands the company\'s additive manufacturing capabilities.

V-BEND electromechanical plate bending machines are used at industrial companies, as well as in research and educational institutions and research and production companies.

It is important that the equipment is actively used at Promet�s in-house production facilities. This allows for rapid adjustments to the design and confirmation of the effectiveness of solutions in real operating conditions.

Near-term plans include a launch of new production phases

Promet is currently ramping up production. More than 10 machines are manufactured each month. And the company is expanding its capacity and building new production stages.

Preparations for Metalloobrabotka 2026 have entered their final phase: the preliminary list of exhibitors is now available on the website. Major manufacturers and suppliers of equipment and tools from Russia, Belarus, China, India, Turkiye, and some other countries have announced their desire to participate in the industry�s main trade show of the year.

Current metalworking production does not imply just a machine tool. It is an entire process chain involving companies that solve a variety of production tasks. Four major new laser technology productions at the HL stand

STM is an the official partner of the global leader in the production of premium-class laser systems � the HL brand. It is going beyond the usual equipment demonstration format this year, presenting an integrated approach to organising current production facilities at the show. Among the major premieres is the laser coil cutting process, which will be presented at the show for the first time. This solution can increase production capacity by up to 50% and reduce product costs by up to 30%, making it particularly in demand for companies with large processing volumes.

Special attention will undoubtedly be drawn to the automated CNC panel bending system, designed for bending panels and facade elements. High precision, repeatability, and minimum operator involvement make it an effective tool for serial production.
Another new product is the ultra-high-speed F1 laser tube cutting machine, featuring high dynamics: positioning speed reaches 150 m/min, while rotational speed reaches 150 rpm. This equipment is aimed at companies where processing speed without loss of quality is critical.

The display will be supplemented by a bending section with a robotic manipulator, demonstrating the capabilities of fully integrating equipment into a production line. This format allows for autonomous 24/7 operation, minimizing the human factor, and increasing process stability.

During the show, joint activities with partners are planned at the HL stand, including demonstration master classes on cutting specialised steel grades.
