Metalloobrabotka 2014

One of the largest trade shows in the machine tool industry – the 15th International Exhibition for Equipment, Instruments and Tools for the Metalworking Industry – Metalloobrabotka 2014 ran successfully from June 16 to 20, 2014 at Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow.

The show was held by Expocentre together with Stankoinstrument Russian Association of Machine-Tool Manufacturers. It was officially supported by the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assibly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Russian Union of Machine Builders. The show ran under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Moscow City Government.

This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the exhibition. Today it hits the world’s top ten trade shows and develops rapidly.

Metalloobrabotka 2014

According to the key figures, Metalloobrabotka 2014 was record breaking over its history. This year 1, 053 companies from 35 countries including 462 Russian companies showcased their new equipment and developments on the exhibition space of 40,171 net sqm. The number of visitors to the exposition amounted to 23,891 people.

At the trade fair the companies from Belarus, China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, and Switzerland arranged their collective expositions supported by national industry associations.

The Taiwan collective stand was organized there. The Friendship Day of Russian and Taiwan Manufacturers was held as part of the Metalloobrabotka 2014 Exhibition. 

The Swiss national pavilion stood out with its bright decoration and a wide range of exhibits. Forty-five Swiss companies put on display their latest developments, technologies and equipment.

Thiatic sectors of the show covered all the aspects of machine building, machine tool industry, and metalworking.

Owing to Expocentre’s advanced equipment, the industry experts could see state-of-the-art machinery running. Hundreds of energy-intensive and large size units and machines were shown in operation.

Special Salon for Russia’s Tools was arranged at the tradeshow.

The Science, Vocational Education and Production section, organized by Stankoinstrument Association with the assistance of Expocentre and the Technical Universities Association, traditionally drew great attention of the industry specialists.

The Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions Project, aimed to fight infringients of exclusive rights to IP assets, was further promoted at Metalloobrabotka 2014.

The Interregional Subcontracting Exchange was opened at the exhibition.

Events Programme

Stankoinstrument Association together with Expocentre ZAO held the 4th International Scientific and Technical Forum on Modern Trends in Technologies and Design of Metalworking Equipment. Didactic Systis ZAO with the assistance of Stankoinstrument Association and Expocentre ZAO organized the 4th Conference on Key Trends in Metalworking Specialists Training.

A landmark event took place in the frames of the exhibition. The first Russian-Swiss Centre of Competence in Micromachining was opened at the priises of STANKIN Moscow State University of Technology (MSUT). The Centre’s priorities are to promote modernization of Russia’s machine building industry and development of Russia’s tool-making industry using Swiss advanced engineering technologies and equipment, as well as to improve the quality of training and retraining of engineers, researchers and technicians engaged in machine manufacturing.

Swiss Ambassador to Russia Mr. Pierre Helga met journalists. According to him, a large scale participation of Swiss machine-building companies in Metalloobrabotka 2014 “is a great result, especially as part of the festivities devoted to the 200th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Russia, which we celebrate this year.” The general partner of STANKIN MSUT is Galika AG.

A siinar was held on the Friendship Day of Russian and Taiwan Manufacturers. Head of the representative office of Taipei-Moscow Economic and Cultural Coordination Commission Mr. Antonio Chen said that “collaboration with Russian manufacturers is of particular interest to Taiwanese producers because they are ready to enter the Russian market and cooperate with production plants.”

Stankoprom Holding and Niles-Simmons, a German machine-tool corporation, agreed on SKD assibly of high precision machines in Russia. The process will be launched at the priises of Savelovo Machine-Building Plant this year. The relevant agreient was signed at the exhibition by Stankoprom Director General, Savelovo Machine-Building Plant Director General Sergey Vetrov, and Niles-Simmons President Micaela Schönherr. According to the document, the parties are to cooperate to implient the strategy of import substitution of machine tools in Russia. First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Gleb Nikitin was at the signing ceriony.

In the frames of the Metalloobrabotka 2014 International Exhibition a final round of the Open Competition “CAD Design in Machine Building” was first held; one of its tasks was to find human resources for the industry enterprises
