The Strategic Session on the Russian Metallurgical Industry: Priorities, Personnel, Laws was one of the key events of the Metalloobrabotka conference programme in 2026. It was organised by the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education and EXPOCENTRE AO.

The discussion was moderated by Oleg Dyachenko, Executive Director at VOIR – the Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers. During the session, experts talked about the transformation of engineering education, training of highly qualified personnel, and mechanisms of interaction between industrial enterprises and higher education.

Sergey Selivanov, Deputy Director General at EXPOCENTRE, welcomed the event participants. He noted that it is possible to develop effective solutions to ensure the technological sovereignty of the country by bringing together the efforts of the legislative authorities, relevant ministries, and leading universities at the exhibition platform.

“Metallobrabotka provides a unique opportunity for students to get acquainted with the latest technologies and equipment that they will have to work with tomorrow,” said Sergey Selivanov. He emphasized the scale of the show, which grew to 82,000 square meters and brought together more than 1,200 companies in 2026.

Other speakers included Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector at Korolev Samara National Research University, Sergey Salikhov, First Vice-Rector at NUST MISIS, Mikhail Rodin, CEO at i3D, and Aleksandr Komshin, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technologies at Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

The participants of the discussion agreed that only through the seamless integration of the educational process and real production is it possible to ensure the technological leadership of the Russian industry in the global market.
