Prospects for digital manufacturing in the Russian mechanical engineering industry

The conference programme of Metalloobrabotka 2023 hosted the Panel on the Prospects for Digital Production and Development of Cooperation in Metalworking and Mechanical Engineering. It was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO, the CKTI Moscow Branch, and the Association of Digital Innovations in Mechanical Engineering.

The purpose of the event is to assess the status and define a vision for priority tasks in the field of digital transformation and the creation of smart industries in machine tool and metalworking based on Russian solutions using best practices and fundamental national and international standards.

The panel moderator, Chair of the Board at the Association of Digital Innovations in Mechanical Engineering Boris Pozdneev, is convinced that the balance between domestic and foreign equipment must change. Production capabilities should be focused on Russian innovative equipment.

Deputy Director at the IT Industry Development Department of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass media Aleksey Dorozhko outlined the situation with the development of digital technologies in this country and the extent of their penetration in various spheres of production. He also presented the measures of state support provided by his ministry.  

The participants discussed the main development trends, standards, solutions for creating smart production and digital enterprises, problems of regulatory, technical and methodological support for digital transformation processes, and issues of training and retraining of executive staff for digital transformation. In addition, they talked about new approaches to cooperation between enterprises, IT companies, and technical universities in the interests of the digital development of the Russian industry.
