The 9th International Exhibition of Equipment, Instruments and Tools for Metal-working Industry – Metalloobrabotka’2006 took place at the Expocentre Fairgrounds from May 23 till May 27, 2006. It was organized by Expocentre, ZAO in association with STANKOINSTRUMENT - the Russian Association of Machine-Tool Producers. The exhibition was held under the patronage of the RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry and had the support of the Government of Moscow.
The Metalloobrabotka Exhibition, a biennial event, has been held since 1984. Being one of the largest engineering exhibitions in Russia, it has a considerable impact on the development of the domestic engineering industry. The exhibition is approved by international exhibition professionals and carries the labels of UFI – the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry and IUEF – the International Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.
This year the exhibition major characteristics have reached a record high. The exhibition area enlarged by 37% in comparison to that of the previous edition and covered more than 25 000 sq m. 720 exhibitors represented 28 countries: Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Czechia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA and Japan. The visitors to the exhibition got familiar with the latest developments of world leaders of the engineering industry and showed their interest in the exhibits demonstrated by 400 Russian machine-tool manufacturers among which were Sterlitamak machine-tool factory, Saratov gear-cutting machine plant, Ivanovo grinding machine plant, Krasny Proletariy (Red Proletarian), Ivanovo heavy engineering plant, Ryazan machine-tool factory and others.
Within the framework of the Metalloobrabotka’2006 exhibition there was introduced a new section entitled “Science, professional training and manufacture”.
The central problems of the domestic and global engineering industry were discussed at the Conference “Domestic Metal-working Equipment and Technologies for the Russian Engineering Industry”. New ideas in various fields of the metal-working industry were presented by directors of leading Russian machine-tool plants and scientific organizations – Corporation MiR, the Instrument. Technologia. Oborudovanie Company (the Instruments. Technology. Equipment Company), Sterlitamak-M.T.E., Vyatka Laser Equipment and Technology Enterprise, Moscow Laser Innovation and Technology Center, VNIIinstrument, the Technopolis Engineering Centre, Ryazan Machine-Tool Factory and others.
During the five days of the event, the exhibition was attended by 20 500 people, among which there were over 16 000 specialists of the engineering industry. It was a record attendance for the event.
The growing interest of the Metalloobrabotka’2006 Exhibition visitors and participants in the engineering field will be maintained by Technoforum’2007 - International Specialized Exhibition of Modern Materials Processing Technologies, Intelligent Machine Tools, Equipment and Instruments that is to be held at the Expocentre Fairgrounds on May 28- July 1, 2007.
