Industrial robotics discussed at Metalloobrabotka 2024

21 / 05 / 2024

The Panel on Fulfillment of Goals and Objectives of the Machine Tool Industry National Project. Handling the Import Substitution Issues and Achieving Technological Sovereignty of the Russian Federation in the Machine Tool Industry has taken place within the Metalloobrabotka 2024 conference programme. The event was organised by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Centre of Basic Industries Development, and EXPOCENTRE AO.

Evgeniy Dudorov, Executive Director at the Android Technics Scientific Production Association (Russia), moderated the event.

The panel participants discussed accomplishments and goals of the national project for the development of production means and automation and the role of industrial robots in accelerating and improving the efficiency of production.

Yury Kuznetsov, Deputy Director at the Department of Machine Tool Building and Heavy Engineering of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, noted that the interest in industrial robots and robotic solutions had emerged at the moment when staff shortages had started to emerge. Interest in robotics is growing. A number of companies that manufacture robots are exhibiting at this year’s Metalloobrabotka. This trend will continue growing every year at the show.

“Those measures of state support that are now being created and implemented are aimed, among other things, at increasing the level of robotisation in the industry. We are talking specifically about industrial robots. They include manipulators, warehouse, logistics and production robots, i.e. those robots that are directly used in the production activities of enterprises and automate the production process”, said the ministry’s representative.

The speaker also stressed that the Russian President had set the goal of increasing the level of industrial robotisation in the country in his address to the Federal Assembly. By 2030, Russia has to become one of the top 25 countries in terms of the level of industrial robotisation. To this end, a new national project of technological sovereignty will be adopted. It will be dedicated not only to means of production but also to automation. The issues related to robots will be placed in a separate federal project, whose measures will focus on the development of production and the introduction of industrial robots.

Andrey Zhizhin, Deputy Director General at the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology, spoke about the Foundation’s activities within the federal project. He told the audience about a series of programmes both planned and already used in the machine-tool industry.

Ruslan Akhmedov, Head at a division within the Department of Machine Tool Building and Heavy Engineering of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, pointed out that the cornerstone of robotisation was industrial robots. Today, seven Russian companies producing robots stand out in Moscow, Tatarstan, Chelyabinsk and Perm Krai. In addition to industrial robot manufacturers, there are Russian robotics integrators that define production processes that can be robotised.

Other reports were made by Viktor Tolmachev, Director at the Consortium of Robotics and Intelligent Control Systems, Oleg Kochetkov, Director General at StankoMashStroy, Airat Faskhutdinov, Director at the New Production Design and Technology Modelling Department at KAMAZ, Artyom Lukin, Director General at Technored, Maxim Gurbashkov, Director General at Innodrive, Olga Mudrova, Executive Director at the Russian Association of Robotics, and other top managers and experts in the robotisation of the machine tool industry.
