All aspects of machine tool building at Metalloobrabotka 2021

Today, Metalloobrabotka 2021, the International Exhibition for Equipment, Instruments and Tools for the Metalworking Industry, opened at Expocentre Fairgrounds. In its 37-year history, the exhibition has become one of the world's top ten industrial trade shows. Today, it defines the development vector not only for the domestic, but also, to a large extent, for the global machine building industry.

At the opening ceremony, Alexey Vyalkin, Acting Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO, reminded that the exhibition is held by Expocentre with the official support of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Engineering Union, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

This year, more than 700 companies from 30 countries are presenting their latest equipment, technologies and services in the field of machine tools and mechanical engineering on an area of more than 30,000 square metres. Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the Republic of Belarus are participating in national pavilions supported by the industry associations; Italian companies are represented by a group stand.

More than 500 leading Russian machine-tool plants and enterprises take part in the exhibition. Regional group pavilions were formed by Voronezh, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Moscow, Penza, Samara, Tver regions, Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk territories, said Alexey Vyalkin.

He emphasised that the product sectors of the exhibition cover almost all aspects of metalworking, machine tool building and mechanical engineering. The sectors "Additive Technology", "Robotics" and "Welding and Related Technologies" continue to develop. This year, there are some innovations. Investment and innovative projects of our companies are presented to potential investors and partners. The Skolkovo Innovation Center organises a startup zone for young entrepreneurs. A large stand called "Science and Education" has been prepared by 18 leading Russian universities. The exhibition will also feature the Employment Centre.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, underlined that Metalloobrabotka is the key event of the industry. According to him, a wide range of exhibitors and the exhibition’s international status show not only the demand for machine-tool products in the domestic market, but also the growth of the industry's investment potential for Russian and foreign partners. The exhibition features domestic developments in the field of metalworking equipment, components, and an extensive range of tools. This is also a confirmation of the effectiveness of government measures to support domestic machine builders and machine tool builders at all stages of the life cycle of their products, said the Deputy Minister.

He also drew attention to important events to be held within the Metalloobrabotka 2021 event programme, such as 3D Industry conferences on additive technologies, Industrial Robotics and others. According to Mikhail Ivanov, these events will become effective platforms for fruitful discussions, close cooperation between Russian and foreign manufacturers, and will lead to new breakthrough technological solutions.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade expressed his gratitude to the organisers of the exhibition, the Expocentre team, for their many years of professional work.

Welcoming the exhibitors, Vladimir Gutenev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship and First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Engineering Union, also noted that the exhibition had an extensive event programme which formed a huge number of valuable proposals for both the Government of the Russian Federation and the State Duma.

Maksim Fateyev, Vice-President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, cited the data of sociological surveys in his welcoming speech. 90% of the enterprises that exhibit and come to the Metalloobrabotka exhibition are its regular participants, 59% come in order to purchase equipment, 37% are looking for new partners and new suppliers at the exhibition. He assured that the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with EXPOCENTRE AO did their best to support the machine tool industry, its development and to attract as many companies as possible from Russia and from all continents to the exhibition.     

The participants, organisers and guests of the Metalloobrabotka 2021 exhibition were warmly congratulated by Oleg Bochkaryov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kononov, Chairman of the Organising Committee of NTI Expo and Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, Roman Petruta, Director of the Industry Development Fund, Georgy Samodurov, President of Russian Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers.
