Welcome from the German Machine Builders Association

21 / 05 / 2021

Dear ladies and gentlemen, a very warm welcome from Frankfurt in Germany to all visitors, exhibitors and the organizers of Metalloobrabotka-2021. My name is Wilfried Schäfer and I'm the executive director of the German Machine Builders Association. We regret very much not to be with you in Moscow personally because of ongoing travel restrictions, but we are glad to send you at least virtually our best wishes from Frankfurt. Exhibitors of Metalloobrabotka-2021 are representing 27 nations. The German participation counts for forty prominent companies. They cover more than two thousand square meters of net exhibition space. This is the largest foreign participation at the trade fair this year. It shows that German manufacturers highly value the importance of the Russian market and of Metalloobrabotka as the main trade show.

Over years, Russia was in fact the third most important market for the German producers because of very high modernization requirements.

They are looking forward to stimulate once again the business between our two countries. In fact, Metalloobrabotka is the primary platform for us to show machine tool technology, cutting tools, clamping devices, measurement instruments and dy and mould components, as well as NC equipment and software. After a very difficult year 2020 this event, once again, is an excellent opportunity to revive business relationships and to intensify established partnerships.
Although the machine tool business between Russia and Germany was hit very hard in the last years, it has stabilized swiftly. In 2020, the exports only decreased by 4 percent after 50 percent one year before.

Forecast expect investments in machine customer industry to increase by 15 percent and a parent consumption of machine tools by 8.5 percent, respectively in 2021. Germany is the largest machine tool supplier for the Russian industry and leading in the high tech segment. Its technologies are used in all important Russian customer segments with many years of intensive knowhow in all those areas worldwide, the German tool machine industry is a valuable partner for Russian industry customers. Ladies and gentlemen, after these short remarks from my side I will wish you all the best for a successful show this year. You are warmly invited to visit the German pavilion in hall number two. Our local colleagues are looking for ways to inform you about the highlights of the German participation. Thank you very much for your attention and good success this year at Metalloobrabotka.
