Machine building: one of leading sectors in getting subsidies

Metalloobrabotka 2019 held at Expocentre Fairgrounds featured the consultation session of Russian Export Center on Export Support for Metalworking Industry. It was organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Russian Export Center AO (REC), and Expocentre AO.

First Deputy Director General of Expocentre AO Nikolay Gusev welcomed the attendees and said that consultation sessions were held at Expocentre's major trade shows where Metalloobrabotka had a special place. The exhibition has been held since 1984 and is growing steadily. The anniversary edition has become record-breaking. The exhibition space occupies over 40,000 net sq m to present stands of leading Russian and foreign machine building companies. The exhibitors are 1,180 companies from 33 countries, including 590 Russian companies.

Participation of a large number of foreign exhibitors testifies to their great interest in Metalloobrabotka and the Russian machine building market, noted Nikolay Gusev. He also said that REC and Expocentre organised group stands of Russian companies at international trade shows.

Machinery manufacturing can be considered as one of the drivers for development of the Russian economy, said the session moderator, Deputy Director of the CCI Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities Committee Victoria Kalinina. In terms of sanction pressure this industry is strongly supported by the government. The system of export support has become fully operational. These days REC considers a large number of projects and requests.

Director of Metals and Mining Business Development of Russian Export Center AO Alexey Kuranchev told about supportive measures of products export for the metalworking industry. According to him, in 2018 the total volume of export support set its record and reached almost 19 billion US dollars. Nowadays machine building sector is among the leading sectors in getting subsidies.

The expert paid particular attention to risk insurance, among financial support measures, of Russian exporters maintained by the Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR). He considered different types of financing for exporters and highlighted the Corporate Program for Competitiveness Improvement which provided an opportunity to receive additional subsidies from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade aimed at stimulation of export production and sales.

During the consultation session the representatives of the Russian machine building companies got detailed and competent answers to all questions regarding different kinds of support provided by REC.
